Early on in our start up The Foundry borrowed the phrase “Don’t Go to Church, BE the Church” from a tee shirt I saw in a magazine.  Over time the phrase has become our identity within our community. We are “do gooders”   For the Foundry it embodies what is it means to share Christ in a meaningful and purposeful way.  We are called to Love Christ, Love Others as Christ loved us & to Serve the World that His Kingdom may come and His will be accomplished.

Galatians 6:10  While we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed something. at times life gets in the way of doing good. There are days that the day to day pastoral or denominational stuff gets in the way of my ability of doing good.  As a guy  who lives to share Christ through incarnational means. my daily routine is full of obstacles and road blocks.  People, things, circumstances not only discourage me on my journey  but has derail my efforts in a heartbeat.

This week one of my favorite writers Neil Anderson shared a nugget of truth by an unknown author that encouraged me on my journey to make a difference in this world.  It’s a poem called “Do It Anyway”. May these words echo in your heart and mind whenever you hit a bump in the road.

DO IT ANYWAY

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Love them anyway.

If you do good people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down, by the smallest people with the smallest minds. Think Big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for the underdog anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.

People really need help, but may attack you if you help them. Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you’ve got and you’ll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

I hope this encourages you to continue on the path of Loving Christ, Loving Others and Serving the World.. for we will overcome if we faint not.
